Not that simple. Getting medication adjusted properly can take years. I have one close friend in jail and another dead from suicide both related to manic episodes and they were both on medication and actively being treated by doctors.

Not until they figure out the right mix. It can in fact make things worse in the short term. So “why doesn’t he take medication?” is not a useful question for Kanye or anyone struggling with this, really, unless you are privy to what he is and isn’t doing & his treatment plan

exactly. Certain medications can cause suicidal ideation in some people, so I can empathize with someone who is resistant

That’s why a bipolar patient needs to be very closely monitored by a psychiatrist until the meds are adjusted properly. Simply not taking them is not ever a good solution.
