Catherine, director of Bell's School in NC, says 1st round of PPP ran out before she could get the loan. In 2nd round there were 35,000 people ahead of her. Applied for small business association loan. Told would hear within 10 days. She applied 3/26. She can't meet ends meet.

Philip Acord, CEO of Chambliss Center for Children in Chattanooga, got PPP loan money last week in April, with staff of 300 they were in "dire straights" with payroll in the hundreds of thousands. Also got some state funds to replace lost revenue. #ChildCareIsEssential

Jerletha McDonald is a home-based child care provider in Texas. She says of the PPP and other loans "most of those opportunities were closed to us" because they are a single proprietor without employees or do not have existing banking relationships. #ChildCareIsEssential

This has been a problem for a very long time; ACA was one effort to ameliorate it. Worked with a single mother decades ago *who couldn’t afford to get a raise* because it would put her family over the Medicaid income cap.
