As Evie Ebert said: "The quiet around childcare moving forward is deafening. There is no money to be made from it and the government knows women will continue to provide it invisibly and uncompensated, because there is no other choice."
Women a terrified. A friend with two young children and no child care right now told me for the first time in their marriage, her husband is making more money, and if there is no solution, she would have to be the one to quit her job.
Another friend in the DC area said another manager from her office resigned this week due to lack of child care for their baby, writing: "I actually cried that that’s what it’s come to."
A friend in MN was set to use summer to pursue a career change. Now it will be spent as caring full-time for their two young children. Another friend in NYC was ready to re-enter workforce but wrote that staying home with daughter has "gone from being a choice to a necessity."
