    I'm wondering if this crisis will bring back unscheduled phone conversations. No more appointment calling or Skyping. But, if you're in the mood to chat, you just dial a number. I know it sounds radical, but you wouldn't believe how common it was in the 20th century.

        I think the reason that people became so shy about using the phone is that they lost the ability to understand the verbal cues when the other person wanted to end the conversation. So they all got stuck in these 45-minute loops.
