He literally not only saved his students and colleagues lives but he saved the gunman's life too. I'd love to know what he said to him. I hope the young man gets the help he needs and doesn't get thrown into prison to be forgotten. He probably already feels forgotten.

The student armed with the gun wasnt going to shoot anyone. He had the gun loaded with one round to kill himself. It's not excusing anything but he was not and did not intend to become a school shooter.

The central thing just about any school-shooter want is attention, for someone to acknowledge them in their pain. It is amazing how one humane and kind person in the right place at the right time can save someone's life and prevent a further tragedy.
