1. Hey, 2A zealots! Let’s talk about the 2nd Amendment for a second, shall we? Gun lovers: “Shut up, Melissa Alano, you haven’t been relevant since Who’s The Boss & I’m just practicing my 2nd amendment rights. It’s my constitutional right to own guns. You can’t have my guns.”

2. My response to all of you 2Aers is this: If you’re in the National Guard, you can carry an M16. If you’re in your house defending your family, well, the Supreme Court said that’s OK too. You have the right to bear arms. BUT...AND IT IS A BIG FUCKING BUT...

4. In closing, I ask gun zealots this: Don’t you want the country to be a safer place? For your loved ones? For your babies? We only want regulation. We only want to ensure guns don’t get into the wrong hands. We only want to live in a country free of preventable gun violence.

Forgive me for being an ignorant Englishman, but don't you have to be in a well regulated militia to own a gun like it says. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed".

To clarify, 2a (nor any of the BOR) gives the gives anyone the rights to own a gun, or do anything else. It restricts the gov from infringing on the rights we, naturally have. We don’t get to speak freely bc 1a allows us. 1a restricts gov from impeding speech. Same w/ 2a

What defines sensible regulation? Also who's gonna be the arbiter and enforcer of this sensibility. The idea of handing that control to a corrupt government that considered me and mine a second class citizen 50-60 years ago doesn't sound so hot to me.

You’re approaching this all wrong. Whether you like it or not, it’s a civil right, pure and simple, and as such, the government cannot infringe upon it. It’s already regulated. What we’ve seen is a failure of law enforcement, not of regulation.
