They said it was taken from court transcripts. We have a reading comprehension issue that is truly frightening here in the US. This is ridiculous and any judge that is knowingly a part of it should be removed from the bench. This is NOT justice! #MissedThePoint Ugh!

He was playing a part. He is a retired judge who wanted people to know what is happening. They made a film. The actors are using transcripts of actual cases. One look at the judge's face told me he'd never preside over such treatment. Your choice to deny it.

Yes. We know HE is acting. The point is, it really IS going on and we know that from transcripts.

I agree that this was a clusterfuck under Obama, too, and I’m ashamed I didn’t know it was happening. But we are “led” by a very cruel and insecure man child right now. I guarantee he was shocked there was even a backlash at all.

Sorry, no they have no rights at all. Children do not have any rights till they reach adulthood. Which is why Trump is doing it. 1) because he can 2) it is painful to us and the children 3) drives his base, makes them feel better about themselves 4) Trump enjoys the chaos

Minors have constitutional rights. As an attorney I was court-appointed to represent a lot of minors accused of crimes in juvenile court under their 6th Amendment right to counsel. They also have 1st Amendment and other Constitutional rights.

Migrant children have rights too. That is settled law.

Why are we hearing they're going before judges without court appointed representation? Is that not the case? These poor kids don't know what's happening, nor do they understand English.

Unfortunately, there’s no right to a court-appointed atty in removal proceedings and these kids are not charged with crimes. But that doesn’t make it right. Especially if they can’t understand the due process they’re afforded.

Wrong. Zero tolerance meant every child was separated from their parents - INCLUDING asylum seekers. And imagine what it would take for you to risk putting yourself and your kids through the uncertainty of seeking asylum. People are DESPERATE. That’s why they do it.

Absolute lie Cat! No child that enters thru a port with their legal guardian seeking Aslyum is separated. The ones who are separated are the 1's who sneak across illegally. Why? Kids can't go to jail with their parents. People need to get their facts straight!

You've fallen for fake news, I'm afraid. Not only have asylum seekers at ports of entry been separated, but here in my "sector" of the border, they were doing it far earlier than previously thought. Get educated.

Since many of these kids are being used by non relatives to gain entry and/or being sex trafficked, separating them from the adults until they can sort it out is actually protecting the kids from potential abuse. Or do you want kids abused ?

But that's not why most of the separations are happening. Regardless, it is for up to two months. And you denied it was happening at all.
