Julia’s story is awe inspiring and heart breaking simultaneously. Instead of focusing on Abortion why not focus on providing contraception, education, medical care, and physical safety and protection to women. Make that a little easier for women. Do not vilify them after the fact

Thank you for hilighting this. I'm also a nurse in women's health and these patients are the ones who will always be with me. There is so much intense love for these babies whose parents choose compassionate supportive care at birth. Trump is so off base here, it's disgusting.

Ask Ralph Northam about that point of view? Why support abortion up until the moment of birth? Honestly, I am not anti abortion but think that once a fetus can feel pain (about 16 weeks) abortion should only be allowed if the mother’s life is in danger.

Because sometimes you don't find up until much later on a pregnancy that the fetus is nonviable or will live only a short painful few hours. Things can still go heartbreakingly wrong in the last weeks of pregnancy.

There’s a difference between “infanticide” and signing a DNR for a family member (baby or otherwise) because you’ve made a heart wrenching decision not to put them through more painful procedures when you know they are terminal.

Thank you for saying this. Families make these difficult decisions for parents, children, spouses, siblings EVERY DAY. Even in cases where the patient left instructions, families are often left to interpret the subtleties and nuance of those instructions with doctors.
