My new hero is Jocelyn Bell Burnell, who discovered pulsars as a PhD student but was uncredited when the Nobel Prize was given to her male colleagues. She spent the next 50 years winning every other award in physics and donating the money to fund PhDs for underrepresented groups

Never promote overwork. It's not a sign of passion or dedication, it's misguided & deeply unhealthy. We need adequate sleep and relaxation in order to survive. Suggesting that we all race to an imaginary finishing line is simply dangerous & irresponsible.

Been lots of interesting talk lately about whether ECRs should or shouldn't sign their peer reviews. Without casting judgment either way (there are decent args on all sides of this debate), allow me to share an experience that convinced me that signing worked, at least for me! /1
