There's a fair amount of evidence that JBP's beliefs are even more heretical than he lets on. However, like Trump, he doesn't want to throw the first punch. He thinks he can tell the Permanent Revolution to not be so revolutionary.
Elections are theatre. 99.9...% of power is held by unelected bureaucrats. Actual democracy would be even worse than what you see.
