"NRx is monarchism/autocracy ..." -- so then why does Moldbug define the "monarch" (Neocam CEO) as an executive appointment, rather than a dynastic stock-holder?

Cuz he’s trying to simplify assumptions in order to do theorycrafting. See also: fnargl, the immortal unkillable alien king

More economical to see Neocam as a model for coherent republican governance packaged in Jacobite LARPing for the troll value. But pretty much everyone missed the joke.

This objection has been addressed in a footnote. In short: don’t take the proposal literally, but rather consider the possibility of crypto locks for some key aspects of national defense (e.g., drones). https://www.unqualified-reservations.org/2008/11/patchwork-2-profit-strategies-for-our/#cha-0_footnote-2 …

Whole tone of the "crypto-government" bit seemed to me to be that modern tech /obviates/ the fundamental natsec requirement "have a loyal army". Don't discount crypto-locks as useful tool in some applications, but that's dangerously wrong.

Right, I take it as a half-baked seed of idea, not a fully fleshed-out proposal.

yeah, my take on this is 1. you should have crypto-locks on stuff that can have crypto-locks, e.g. nukes, fighter planes, drones, but 2. yes, you still need loyal soldiers (also, I don't ever think we'll get full robot armies; if that did happen, would change a lot)

Even crypto-locking weapon cabinets can win fights. The rebels have to take that much longer breaking into their armories.

It's safe for the same reason free roads and welfare are a problem: people are lazy and will use what you give them.
