When I first read this I lacked a particular understanding, and the conclusions seemed repugnant. https://www.unqualified-reservations.org/2011/07/right-wing-terrorism-as-folk-activism/ … However, Moldbug also seems to lack this understanding.

It is this: killing ingroup members is (almost) always wrong. Killing outgroup members is (almost) never wrong, but can be effective or ineffective. Bit shorter this way, aye?

Breivik killed outgroup members. (I thought 'fellow-Swedes' would imply 'ingroup' because of lingering Nationalist infection.) This is not wrong, but it was ineffective. Thus stupid. Thus worthy of contempt and disgust. Breivik thus outgroups himself.

Moldbug's right vs. left wing terrorism model is ill-considered. Do the substitution: "Responsible terrorism doesn't work; only irresponsible terrorism works." What? Huh? This is a non-variable. Breivik carried out cargo-cult terrorism. A Mutt/Jeff act, except there's no Jeff.

If you want to argue that all Republicant action is cargo-cult politics, I'm right there with you.

By contrast, we did indeed have a half-stable half-garage, with a half-horse half-BMW inside. It's just that it was while going in the other direction. Moldbug is very far from demonstrating that the situation is not isotropic.

Though (it should not need be said) this does not imply no such demonstration exists.
