"Shut up and compute" is preventing the physics community from carrying out this process. They have to carry out unpruned Solomonoff induction, which really is impossible. Namely, writing down every union of gravity and QM and testing them all.https://twitter.com/Alrenous/status/1053536880258572290 …

The correct way is trying to write down all the things gravity might be, and all the things quantum mechanics might be. (Spoiler: for the latter the woo woos were right, it's consciousness.)

Most likely you won't really think of -all- of them, but eliminating the ones you think of will outline and highlight your blind spot, thus letting you think of more.

E.g. the two major incarnations of gravity right now are [twisted space-time] and [gravitons, like photons/W-bosons/gluons]. This question should have been settled a long time ago.

Instead they've been faffing about with postwar science, in particular string theory.

[Shut up and compute] says: spacetime is twisted. Here's the formulae for how. Start crunching. A genuine scientist (epistemologist) asks: how is it twisted? How does it know to be twisted?

Here's a couple possible answers: Space is literally a fabric, and particles are tangles in the space, which, just like knots in a spiderweb, put tension on the surrounding fabric.

Space is constantly being destroyed at particles. They suck up space. Somewhat more space is generated [by dark matter?] than is being destroyed at particles.

I'm not convinced dark matter/energy exists, the Quantized Inertia model makes sense and doesn't require hand-tuned parameters.

You can question him about the bullet cluster all you want and you won't get an answer. Yes, [quantized intertia] probably means the dark matter estimates have been wildly wrong. It's not zero, though.

Incidentally I've thought everything is quantized, including probability waves (because otherwise every piece of the universe requires infinite information) since about 2002.

Even if not entirely correct, QI seems like a more likely starting point for a better model. DM always smelled funny to me even long before I'd ever heard of QI, it's filling in the blanks with simulation parameter tweaks and speculation.

Seems more likely than some magical non-interacting-yet-mass-carrying particles that have never been observed experimentally. There's also the question of if all we're observing with remote sensing is even entirely natural.
