Its worth rereading the letter - the authors do not seek to override Scarman's ruling on Gillick competency or child rights - rather they raise three grounds for concern all of which merit scrutiny and engagement whether or not we agree or disagree with them.

This webinar on covid vaccination in children gives some perspective - there is a lot of uncertainty and this needs to be acknowledged and discussed with parents and CYP -

Yes I agree government on course to create US system in England. Denial of care and those that can afford to pay will go privately and NHS staff will jump ship but it will all be so much worse for everyone. What is happening I g to energy is another case study

This is all going to get worse with the Health and Care Bill 2021 -22- duty on Minister to provide universal care gone, care is seriously downgraded, local public accountability is scrapped, (private) providers have discretion to reduce services...MPs must stop this bill

The best podcast for parents and children to watch IMO is @bmjlatest webinar on covid vaccination in children: evidence equity and ethics on YouTube now. Sets out pros and cons and uncertainties very clearly and lack of transparency over data

Thanks for the positive feedback. We think parents and young people can legitimately choose to take the vaccine now or to wait for more evidence. There should be tolerance on both sides on the decisions people take and no undue pressure. It’s a low risk decision either way.

The best data by far on is out from the ONS For kids, the news is incredibly reassuring - parents minds should be put to rest Rates of common symptoms after at 12 w for kids are extremely low (0% to 1.7%) compared to controls 1/

This is because at 12w 30% of children with covid had 3 or more symptoms compared to 16% without covid Saying that 1/7 had long covid is therefore saying 1/7 of the general population of 11-17yo also have the equivalent of long covid at any one time Disregard this statistic 9/

Those who really care about testing should start with Wilson and Jungher principles and book on Screening. Never more relevant and why was U.K NSC totally ignored by policy makers and politicians. 👇

Duty on Sec of State to provide key services abolished in 2012. This has enabled continuing erosion and degradation of care. It also means people who need care regardless of where they are at the time may not receive the care if providers not under contract.
