Imagine any other religious festival and a patently unsuitable, foul-mouthed individual being invited by the BBC to read that religion’s key precious text. People would be up in arms. Rightly so. https://twitter.com/Sathnam/status/1208879927677849601 …

If so, maybe he needs to reflect that in his lyrics.

He has a proper faith though. So he actually believes the stuff he is reading. So entirely appropriate. The Christian faith is in no way about being "proper". If you think so you've misunderstood it.

Oh do give up. Tweeting the same thing repeatedly won’t get more people agreeing with you.

BBC demonstrate their lack of taste and probity yet again - whilst frittering OUR money on these no-accounts.

Jesus chose rough and ready fishermen to be his disciples. And he hung out with the dispossessed. Are you suggesting that religion should only be the preserve of certain classes and the 'unsuitable' be excluded?

This reading from the Gospel about the birth of Jesus to close the Christmas night broadcasting schedule does not seem to me to be evidence of an anti-Christian agenda at all.

Other religions are available! Lots of people will listen. It’s a nice story with a glass of mulled wine. Very pleasant.
