I've taught grade 3, grades 6-12, and at the university level. Everyone always wants to know what the big difference is at each level. I woke up today feeling like I can finally describe my experiences as a multi-level educator.

How do you deal with Ss who have messy handwriting that is very hard to read? I tried asking them to please write more clearly, but it didn't seem to help. And giving handwriting "lessons" feels kind of infantilizing/condescending. Ideas?

Boring TV show? Bye bye. Boring book? Bye bye. The amount of time I spend in contact with the language matches how much fun I'm having when watching/reading it. Discard uninteresting things ruthlessly.

Friendly reminder: Rest is not a reward for hard work, but a critical component to working hard. Mark it as a timepoint in your protocol or appointment in your calendar if necessary. Rest. Recreate. Spend time with loved ones.

“It’s hard for me to say that. How about I give you a nickname?” No. Ask your students how to pronounce their name correctly, practice it as much as you need to, then say it correctly.
