The @GeorgeGascon algorithm — which @chesaboudin continues to use to decide if suspects are “low risk” — didn’t work too well with #VermondJones. Gascon is at fault, along with Boudin, #lenientjudges, and Boudin’s no money bail. Jones should have been in prison. Now he’s dead.https://twitter.com/genothefox/status/1312283107244994560 …

Predicting future human risk isn’t an exact science, but the algorithm has proven safer than bail. Based on your faulty logic had more bad stuff happened under bail they’d be absolved of responsibility, but since they’re reformers they’re to blame?

Should read the articles you share first. “staff mistakenly entered incorrect data about suspect Mims.“ This wasn’t an algorithm error. It was user error.

A faulty algorithm is a program poorly written with no 2nd check point (red flag) which allowed human error to pass. Many large business ERP, financial banking and law firms use this protocol. It's very common.

The 2nd check is called the judge.

And in SF they’re lenient and let guys like this out — have you been to the TL? There’s the work of judges selling fentanyl on every corner.

Judges more likely 2 hold people in-custody if SFPD shows they're involved in more than just hand-to-hand sales. SFPD just doesn't want to do the work. All they have to do is show a dealer working w/someone else to prove conspiracy (ie video of them looking/working with someone).
