Happy to share some positive news in research: our recent work in shows that the duration of trap confinement doesn't affect personality measurements! I hope this work is useful for you in the future!

Our new paper: female meerkats kill each others’ pups unless they breed synchronously. So do they breed in sync? No! Why not? Because bullying weak subordinates leads to greater fitness payoffs than synchronising with them.

Small mammal foodies: check out our paper in Forest Ecology and Management on and in Mixed Forests of the Eastern US. Take home message of the paper: white pine = caviar, paper birch = overcooked cabbage

We captured our first Blarina shrew of the season this morning! It even screamed at me (as they do)... Due to the cyclic nature of small mammal populations, this year’s numbers have been very low (by this time last year we had captured over 70 individual shrews)!

Wow. I've just read this excellent paper on gender and conservation leadership from Jones and Solomon in . I knew conservation had a gender problem - but I didn't realise it was this bad. All conservationists should read it and take action.

Hello black bear my old friend, I’ve come with traps for you again. A nuisance mammal softly creeping, you ate my seeds while I was sleeping... maybe if I sing to him he’ll stay away
