In personal experience, it’s v rare (can’t think of a time it’s ever happened) where scientist asked or expected to see entire text. I know it happens - but not common. The flip side: plenty of scientists stop talking to science writers after getting burned — or just accept that they’ll be misrepresented from time to time. I‘ve been on both sides of this issue: it’s easy to make mistakes, even when everyone is acting in good faith. Takes trust.
