You can change the Final Smash setting to meter, which charges over time (by default, this option is off). Sakurai does note that this setting is better suited to casual, party play over serious competitive play.pic.twitter.com/eXzqQKeNvB

Sakurai says that for King K. Rool to be truly “King K. Rool-esque,”he needs to be standing tall and upright. Sigh...well, there goes that idea. This will be the rallying cry of Smash conservatives for the lifetime of Ultimate. All hope for this potentially cool game-changer just went up in smoke.

"Oh no I can't use Marth's FS to kill at 30!" Really though, most FS do ridiculous damage, cover the screen with huge unlockable hitboxes, kill instantly, or some sadistic mix of the three. If we were to make FS meters legal, the game just wouldn't be fun until the FS are nerfed

Sakurai said Smash itself is meant to be casual and party friendly, but look at what happened. All you people looking for a way to shut things down with this statement shouldn't forget Brawl and Smash 4 happened because we continued to make it happen. Learn to experiment first.
