53 yo born & raised Canadian here. Only time I thought about medical coverage was during the 5 yrs I lived in the US. Only time also, my healthcare was tied to my employment. Folks forget about that aspect - careers affected by healthcare options. They shouldn't be.

When the ACA kicked in I got Medicaid (which was AWESOME), then when my income increased slightly I got an ACA policy that I can barely afford to use.

Luckily IL has expanded Medicaid. This is a blessing as my husband is visually disabled & unable to work. I don't want to go back to the days when there was no ACA.
