    I got cross. Again. Because of how we treat people who walk or use wheelchairs. Despite our stated hierarchy & policies. But righteous indignation is OK, no? (There’s a paywall, I think. Soz.)

    This is what happens when you freeze Fuel Duty for years and don't take a reduction of transport demand seriously. All the progress on electric cars is being undone by a huge rise in sales of fuel-inefficient and dangerous SUVs in the UK.

    Over 10 years ago this chap came to Newcastle as I was struggling to finish my PhD. With his help and guidance, and that of other colleagues in , I finally graduated today. Thanks a million ! Great to have presiding at the ceremony too.

    Almost all political parties (with the exception of the Green Party) are focussed on economic growth as a measure of success. Here, the head of explains why that is terribly dangerous - we need to focus on demand reduction and steady state.
