I sliced the top of my little finger off last week when cutting onions and I have to admit that watching its development since then has been weirdly/horribly fascinating. Bodies are amazingly clever things.
Dear god in heaven. Sometimes I do understand why people stop reading the news https://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63792458… Those poor, poor children (and the workers who tried to raise alarms earlier on)
It's a chilly old @heatworld day, so curl up with a cracker from @Anstey_Harris@JillMansell@CaileanSteed and @phoebeluckhurst@headlinepg@BloomsburyRaven@MichaelJBooks@AmazonPub

, who has not only written a brilliant, unputdownable thriller about cults, families and belonging, but has also been a massive cheerleader for their fellow debut authors. And just look at how great that hb jacket is!
IT’S FINALLY HERE!
#Home is out in the world today. I am so incredibly excited for the world to meet Zoe, Amy, Meg, and all the rest of the characters I’ve been thinking about since the idea first came to me all those years ago.

Constantly buying fast fashion is unsustainable. It’s time to normalise more eco-friendly lifestyles, such as wearing the same tattered wedding dress every day while sitting in a crumbling manor plotting revenge.
She’s here!
Look at the stunning hardback edition of Lady MacBethad by @BelleSchuler. A suspenseful, sweeping historical epic, this novel is the origin story of the woman who inspired one of Shakespeare's most iconic characters.
She will be Queen. Whatever it takes.
) is out this Thursday and is getting so much brilliant advance publicity. A super smart debut about cults, families and belonging, it is a fantastic way to chase away the January blues.
Can’t believe #Home has made it into the @Independent_ie! It means so much to be in an Irish newspaper - parts of it were written when I lived in Dublin almost a decade ago, & it’s also an important setting for part of the story!
Thank you @BredaBrown1 for the lovely review!
One minute with author Laura Purcell (@spookypurcell)
‘My hero is Dolly Parton. She’s such a gifted singer and songwriter, which is reason enough to admire her, but she seems to use her success to do real good.’

authors would be the best at running a pub; why wood burning stoves are actually bad; & why the US don't have kettles. We also found time to talk about the most audacious debut of the year, coming this Autumn...

I do feel that I should probably start adding to any talks I give about what I do in my day to day job the endless hours I spend wailing at Amazon for randomly removing a book's cover that was there the day before or hiding an edition for no good reason.
Regardless of what anyone thinks of the book, I love it when a publishing event is in the news! It's so fun and especially when I don't have to be the one worrying about stock levels or metadata.
Enormously enjoying the people responding that it's only selling because it's half price at the moment. I mean, sure, maybe some of those copies but probably not the other 399,980k of them.
VERY much here for people sending me a) extremely exciting proofs of debut novels I've been staring at enviously on Twitter for some time and b) sweets. Thank you,
! One of the nicest, and hardest working authors I am lucky enough to publish and this pb is just GORGEOUS. If you're looking to start your 2023 reading in style, snap up a Leviathan 🐍🐍🐍
Something has awoken, and now it will not rest...
The BIGGEST and happiest of publication days to @rosieandrews22 for #TheLeviathan, out now in paperback!
Of all the many things the government do to make me despise them, claiming it’s the striking NHS staff putting people at risk today - not them for massively underfunding the service & staff for years - is pretty sickening. #NHSStrike
What an absolutely incredible book - I see why so many people have called it a masterpiece, it’s one of the best things I’ve read in years. It’s v. short, so moving & unbelievably readable so if you’d like to give yourself a pre Christmas gift, I’d thoroughly recommend this.
