If a character isn’t straight, I’m happy to play the role provided that we’re not leaning on stereotypes or I’m taking a role away from another actor. Now if I’m asked to tell an LBGTQ+ story, I would decline. We should be showcasing LGBTQ+ talent and amplifying their voices

I don't think saving LGBTQ+ roles for LGBTQ+ actors only is the solution to the film industry's homophobia problem. What we truly need is for LGBTQ+ actors to be free to come out without that having negative repercussions on their careers or role availability.

Also, leaving queer roles to queer actors only is actually leaving them to queer actors who are out only. I'm not really comfortable with the idea that an actor who plays a queer character would owe a public coming out, if you see what i mean
