More of this, please!!!! Fascinating. I would love to make a film about the gathering of the Commonwealth (Imperial still - just) soldiers. How they got on etc etc - the sheer numbers boggle the mind
indeed! interesting fact from a friend, that the 'Indian Army were banned by the Indian Govt to attend... but the triservice organised a peace deligation, very little of which is known, or spoken about, given it was not officially sanctioned'
...the Sikh Regiment sent Representatives to Windsor to present the Queen with the Regimental Colours her father had presented to them. (info via @Alfromeo)
There must have been somesort of communication between the Indian and Brirish Govt, given India was not included in the parade. It must have been an incredible thing, to have gone all that way, but not take part in the march.
