    Going to show this to my class as a way of conceptualizing "ground up" evolution of flight. Imagine a cursorial predator using wings to navigate the environment and chase down prey in the same way. Super cool.

    Fascinating, nice work. Turtle Dove demise hits home. 3,600 TD territories in GB - e.g. plenty more Black Grouse (4,850 males), Red Kite (4,350 pairs), Ring-necked Parakeet (whopping 12,000 prs). Nightingales (5,100 male) not much rosier.

    A Willow Tit's nemesis in Nth Europe: shows that Pygmy Owls hunt & cache more tits when preferred voles are scarce. This store has Willow, Blue, Great Tit & Yellowhammer. I've seen a PO nest in containing Hawfinch & Wood Warbler. Tiny, ferocious predators!
