I hate going to bars or restaurants with food/drink options written on chalkboard because I can't see the menu with low vision, so I get anxious about ordering and want to leave. Sometimes I have to leave because I can't order.

Sample of options that go through my head: - Order basic item I guess they have based on cuisine, but may not be what I want - Ask someone with me to read the menu which is annoying to them and me - Using my phone camera zoom feature but if it's too far away it's still blurry

- Ask for a paper menu but they might not have one and if there's a line I can't ask until I'm at the register and have to speed-read and decide my order fast so I don't hold up everyone else - Must walk to very front of line to read menu and risk looking like I'm a rude cutter

- At a loud busy bar, no one is going to help me read the specials. A bartender is busy with a packed bar - Easiest option is beer. I now have to make my way to the taps to read the tiny text or recognize logos

The ongoing joke about millennials having to find out what they're going to order before they even step foot into a restaurant is doubly true for me, because it just saves me the anxiety and headache of low vision ordering.
