    Aphaenogaster occidentalis: Wander in the foothills after dark and you'll see these gangly ants out looking for food. This is a pretty common species throughout western North America.

    Last semester I had invertebrate biology students write a letter “What I wish I had known- a letter to future invertebrate enthusiasts”. This week we are giving the letters to the current students- some inspiration and study hints ahead of their lab midterm next week!
