    Just goes to show there’s not a consistent pattern with these things - Ocasio-Cortez may have benefited from very low turnout in her own defeat of a Dem House incumbent

    Huge turnout helped power Ayanna Pressley's victory over Michael Capuano. In 2018, there were 102,067 voters. In 2016, there were 46,735 voters.

    getting a little harder to argue this isn't the case. Central to the tea party was the center of power moving from the party establishment to the grassroots activists. It appears to be headed that way for Democrats now as well

    Similar to how Tea Party movement was less about ideology and more about rhetoric, style, and the messengers. Democrats are just a few years behind the Republicans in the party civil wars.
