“Behold, I see the heavens opened…” Feast of St Stephen 2021. Archbishop Tutu was the best of us. He exemplified faith, courage, and wisdom. Rest in eternal peace, teacher.

Scrutinised Bayeux tapestry pics looking for Papal banner. None to be found. Realised I don’t know what an 11th Cent Papal banner looks like. Did some reading. Discovered no one really knows what it looks like. Is William of Poitiers the Steven Bannon of the Norman Conquest?

This changes everything. Today, I learn that it’s likely William did NOT carry.a Papal Banner into battle at Hastings. (Well, no one in Rome seems to remember giving him one…but I suppose these things can be mislaid). If true, huge implications for Anglo-Norman relations today.

I see we are looking to Thucydides again for advice on current strategic problems. The 2 BIG things to learn are clearly: 1. DON’T invade Sicily. 2. DO ask the Persians to bankroll your navy. Helpful advice for any age. You’re welcome.

Nadi statement not only recommends commitment to strengthen atrocity prevention and R2P in Fiji but also suggests recommendations for Fiji government in furthering atrocity prevention within the country and the wider Pacific region.
