Noah is someone I know personally from Oxford. I don't agree with his politics or some of the conclusions of his research, but I know he is an intelligent and open minded truth seeker. If there is no place for heterodox scholars in the academy, that's very worrying.https://twitter.com/clairlemon/status/1123376757229477889 …

I have just learned that the mob has been successful in getting social scientist Noah Carl fired from his position at Cambridge. The statement from St. Edmund's apologises for the "hurt" caused by his appointment. I have seen very little methodological critique of his work. All I could find is one blog post, which Noah Carl thoroughly addressed. So I take it that they unapologetically admitting that they are firing him for heterodox thinking and guilt-by-association.

There is some fair critique to be made but "he did some unsophisticated modelling" (which for the record is not worse than the output of most of his harassers) is obviously just post hoc rationalization for what is a strictly political campaign.

The establishment academics acting very similar to the establishment media. They are trying to quell any new ideas or outlets with fake outrage, that they know the masses of justice warriors on social media will get unreasonably upset about.

Tend to agree here. Saw his google scholar listed papers - see atleast a few that have super questionable conclusions. Is it good enough to sack him and potentially end his career? Dont think so.
