While many EV supporters still seem to think we can electrify our way out of brittle, high-carbon auto-dependency.
We need massive reductions in the number of cars AND every remaining car to be an EV. Only possible path forward in CO2 constrained world.

Most of Europe never became anything like as auto dependent as US cities, there's no real analog to US exurbia and they're moving faster now

When EVs announced in most of the world they don't include the part about getting rid of more cars cause they're already doing it.

But here in N. America we need to remind ourselves that sustainable transportation is first and foremost a matter of needing less mobility.

and that borrowing $$ to preserve current high-CO2 autodependence, much less building new highways/parking/etc, is inherently unsustainable.

What isn't yet acknowledged is the inequity/harm done to deprived high-density communities by private car storage for a privileged minority.

So reduction of vehicles and private ownership ship is necessary for this reason, not just pollution reduction/main-road space allocation.
