    Even in Clockwork Orange, Alex is an accidental murderer and is shocked when he finds out what he’s done. It’s the small amount of morality that convinced him to undergo the experimental treatments. Nothing redeemable about fleck, a cartoon villain.

    Jokers message would have resonated if there was anything redeemable about the character. In King of Comedy, Rupert isn’t a murderer, he just wants to get on tv. In taxi driver, Travis wants to save the teenage prostitute. Neither character are actually evil like Joker.

    Upon re watching Joker, I found the worst parts of myself enjoying it, the parts that want revenge and chaos. I think we all have that inside. A credit to the film for making me feel that but also I fear others cannot responsibly deal with that feeling.

    I never bought that fleck would become Joker. The world, because it can justified as comic bookish, doesn’t have to align with real human motivations. Things just happen. It an “and then” story.

    The fundamental problem with a property like Joker is that the movie has to lead to a guy being Joker. So therefore events don't believably lead into each other. Each plot point must justify this larger goal and cannot organically take the character to actual logical ends.

    In King if Comedy, the audience sees Rupert as a beginner comic and so do the other characters in the movie. In Joker there’s nothing funny about fleck to us, yet he is funny to other characters. This makes events feel disconnected and arbitrary.

    Trump continues to publicly humiliate himself as dementia dissolves major areas of his brain. With the self control of a 3 year old & zero awareness of what he's supposed to be doing he clowns around during the National Anthem. It will keep getting worse.

    I feel like there is a battle in movies to say something positive and universal without being lame. It's way easier to seem cool by being dark.

    Joker the movie is basically about how the ills of the world justify terrorism. It's a terrible message, unintentional in so far as most still don't get, in entertainment, we pour our intellects into deeply anti-intellectual, negative, pursuits.
