just a reminder for those who don't know, you can hold alt to do a vertical selection in most code editorspic.twitter.com/lmoYWd0Hf6

this is why I always try to keep blocks of similar looking code aligned with spaces & stuff, I use this feature very often.

yeah fair. VS automatically realigns all my code all the time so it's a hopeless endeavour. I find it quite useful in general but it annoys me using flagged enums where you have like: a = 0 b = 1<<0 c = 1<<1 and you reeeally need it aligned

If you use VS you can use Ctrl + Alt + mouse click to place multiple cursors

hmm when I ctrl alt click it takes me to the definition?

You can get around most alignment problems by Alt+Dragging, then Ctrl+ArrowKey to snap between ‘break-points’, like method calls etc. Can also Alt+Shift+Click multiple separate lines, and drag across end of lines even if jagged/unaligned. Personally use it quite oftenpic.twitter.com/JRBDtbUSDI

(I should point out I‘m using Rider, not VS)

I didn’t knew about it and have no regrets. On my opinion, if you have a lot of similar lines in code then you are probably doing something wrong.

It doesn't have to be aligned! Multiline select the beginning of each row, now Ctrl+Right until you get to where you want. Now you will be at the correct place in all lines individually
