Great article Alex! I'm waiting for a developer to turn the idea into a single player experience (you're dropped into an open world environment with procedurally generated story beats and friendly / enemy NPCs to fight and team up with).

Right? Then you can get all the nuance that you mention in the article - with multiple endings and win states. Do you win the game and kill your friends (becoming a celeb), or resist and fight the govt that put you there?

That's something I hadn't considered, actually – that to achieve the kind of stuff I'm talking about, multiplayer might not be the best route.
