Essentially my problem was, the Martians were too much.
I wasn't really sure where they fit in. Everything else feels like it comes out of the Santa mythos (I loved the hint at a League of Christmas) or is a critique (like the impact Coca-Cola had on his portrayal). I don't get why Martians.

Although actually, were they even Martians? Or dark-universe counterparts?

I believe they're Martians. I *think* they're mentioned in last year's special as well?
