Hmmm. It's interesting, because I trend towards liking Shur's stuff less than most people.

Like, I laughed more at the first episode than possibly the entire third season of Parks & Rec (which we also finished last night).
And I think it is quite good at being autocritical, in that most of the quibbles I had were addressed, or even intentionally 'wrong'.

It does some of that with Chidi and the stuff you mention, though I'm not sure whether it'd be enough to scratch that itch.

But, yeah, tonally it's pretty consistent so if the early eps didn't work for you, that's unlikely to change.
