Taking time to read a little on colour theory, a little on understanding cinematography and composition, and McCloud's book...

...those things aren't hard to find, and for the most part the basics can be grasped easily, and will help inform any writing you do.

It'll also help see why you'd class something as "bad" or "good", it'll reveal the inner workings of the book, and the art, and the theme.

A quick run down of recent reviews from a major comics site gives you an idea of how frustrating this all is. Almost entirely plot --

--with little to no mention of how the art *informs* that plot, how it's processed, how it's filtered through. Practically nothing.

The art gets it's own paragraph where it's either good or bad, maybe a quick mention of scale, or whatever, but that's it.

It creates the impression that the art is not *fundamental* to the telling of the story, that they somehow sit on separate layers completely

Frustrating.
