This is still an important legacy to consider when voting, as most people think in terms of political parties as singular institutions.
And I at least didn't realise that the Conservatives voting for equal marriage were actually a minority.

I think 'voting in knowledge they didn't need to vote for it' is a pretty weak excuse, honestly.
