I almost hard bounced too, but glad I stuck with it.
This (and the number of people saying likewise) is fascinating to me, because my recollection was that it starts strong.

For me the relationships were all less interesting in the first season and it took a wild leap for the better when they figured out Sandra was a main character, but the excruciating relatability of the retail experience was absolutely enough to get me hooked in the first episode.

"4" was the episode which got mentioned by friends in terms of when it solidified a bit more (The mankinin one), and that's where there were enough laughs to justify continuing for me. I would also die for Sandra.
