I definitely see it as a tangential and related art, rather than one that naturally leads into development. It's infinitely more likely I'd do other forms of journalism than make videogames.

I think game dev was drilled into people as an exit strategy because of pay and all the usual work condition grumbles with journalism, and that's totally fair enough. But yeah, the journalism/criticism/whatever is the thing for me. If only I were any good at it.
