I mean, for a start, it's the punchline to ten years of "Half-Life 3 when?" And it delivers, with one of my favourite endings in all of videogames. (Something they're not famously good at.)

But mostly it's how those gunfights deliver on the childhood promise (as opposed to the disappointing reality) of Laser Quest and, more recently, of a Space Pirate Trainer demo when I first realised, oh, in VR you can shoot without looking. Cooooool.

Having initially resigned myself to 'ahh, I'll never get to play it', and then having played it, I keep finding myself tempted to drop a few hundos on a VR headset just so I can play it *again*.

All of those top 5 games look incredible and I haven't played a single one of them (due to technological and monetary constraints) but you have just hyped me up to want to play them more! Thanks for all the awesome gaming content in 2020, Alex!
