It's based on words spoken. I plugged the MP3s into my transcription software, which you can teach individual voices, then just took a wordcount for each of you. A fairly bodged-together methodology, but it works I think!
(As @Reecelipman observed when I showed him these, I was – predictably – on a deadline. I've near-automated the process now, so next time I find myself in need of procrastination I might do more episodes.)

In my experience, there's very little you can't do by duct-taping together three or four bits of disparate software.
