That’s the thing about it being a Metroidvania with no map and also being quite rigidly linear about where you’re supposed to go with those one-way pipes and sealing doors

This was exactly my problem with it. I get why there isn't a map, thematically speaking, but the fuzziness and fussiness clash pretty hard. There was one point I actually thought the game might have ended without telling me.
