As I recall, the Home Wreckers bowling team belongs to the episode Team Homer. If I'm not mistaken, that was a stray episode showrun by David Mirkin.

Aha, good catch! The fact that seasons weren't all produced as one lump is something I really want to cover at some point but haven't got round to that yet. I'll see if I can find a different example, because this one does complicate the point I'm trying to make.

Season 2 really seems to have that going on. The last episodes are more like season 3 than the first part of the second season itself. PS - Season 3 is the perfect blueprint for the whole show's run, but I agree, season 4 is funnier. So damn funny!

In general, I tend not to love the odd-numbered seasons. I've theorised that it's because the new showrunners are still settling in. They always feel like a bit of an awkward halfway to me – still great but not quite reaching the intended vision yet.
