I've written a piece on why we should be more reasonable (yes, I know I argued the opposite last year, keep up!)

It's a nice move by DWF, who have been an interesting firm for some time, and a more cogent story than Simmons buying Wavelength. It also fits into the narrative of big law being able to adapt which you have been arguing for some time. /1

Fascinating to compare the half-life of content across platforms (time it takes for a piece of content to reach 50% of its total lifetime engagement) 🧐 Twitter: 20 mins Facebook: 5 hrs Instagram: 20 hrs LinkedIn: 24 hrs YouTube: 20 days Pinterest: 4 mos Blog post: 2 yrs

Hi Alex, this HBR article is a good starting point. As well as knowing how, you need to have bought into the ‘why’. This is where sport has some great examples. Let me know if I can help further

The surgeon’s hand is visibly trembling. The scalpel’s blade glints as it catches the light. I’m a medical student, scrubbed in on the case. I’m not going into surgery, I know that. I’m here for him. He glances at me and notices I’m holding my breath. He grins. “Relax.” 1/

A good lawyer can take anything simple and overcomplicate it. A great lawyer can take anything simple and overcomplicate it, and get a client to pay for it. A fabulous lawyer can prevent the problem from happening in the first place.

Indeed; in-house and out-of-house - could, if they came together with “the business” to reframe the purpose of legal services in business and had each others backs, reduce wider mental health issues. But lawyers and business must be willing to earn less money.

We seem to skip the first stage in law, and generally don't make it to the third
