Jed: Are hospitals outside NYC full, or (in some cases) shutting from lack of patients? Have the models been revised down again and again? Have hospitalizations come in far below expectations? Have 16MM Americans filed for unemployment/ Who's denying reality, who's living in it?https://twitter.com/jedshug/status/1248314369810759681 …

What is the estimate for deaths if we had done nothing? Seems to me this is the relevant comparison vis a vis the flu
-
No, because doing nothing was never going to be an option in the first place. No one is saying we should have done nothing.

it would be more than 61k if we hadn't taken the current measures
-
Flu would be more if we didn't vaccinate half the population every year.

Because that's the projection *with* a shutdown and no second wave?

Ross is right but its a bait & switch from media/Fauci: Flattening was TEMPORARY fix, not permanent state If hospitals learn enough & don't get overwhelmed, CFR should be <3% The public needs to get onboard w/ that level of risk or else we won't have an economy come summer

This is exactly right! Its not that we shouldn't take virus seriously, but that we shouldn't be using the equivalent of a bullet to the head as a way of defeating the virus.

Please read some history. A great deal has been written about the Spanish flu - what worked and what got people killed. Limiting exposure saved lives going about life like normal day got more people killed. Oh there were three waves to that epidemic. We’re in the first.
