People keep responding to this without having seen the episode...look it’s hard to critique when you have no vital context. Maybe don’t?

This isn’t an episode about a poor neighborhood, they’re in a ghetto. These people cannot leave, they’ve been interred. DS9 consistently depicted the danger of nascent and rising fascism, and the racism and class warfare that fuels it

Huh, just realized I usually skip this episode not because its bad (its great) but because its no longer escapism when I'm watching it.

The episode is called "Past Tense", and features homeless and other undesirables stuffed into sanctuary districts with very few resources.https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2017/10/star-trek-deep-space-nine-past-tense/542280/ …

DS9 was one Star Trek series that I didn't watch as much as TOS and TNG. Looks like I need to do a little catching up... Anyone care to recommend any episodes of DS9?

You're going to get a lot of people telling you to watch "Far Beyond The Stars" and... yeah they'll be right Also give "In The Pale Moonlight" a spin. Only trouble is these are late in the series and kind of rely on built-up story arcs... but if that doesn't bother you...
