    Pulling your energy back is about recognizing when it isn't being reciprocated. It's a rough road for those who are overly conscious of others, but it's better than disappointment from believing someone loved you for you, not for how they can take advantage of your kindness.

    Lolllllllllomg. No. Ppl are going to remember Pelosi’s vague, gutless gestures towards resistance the way they remember Neville Chamberlain.

    I just saw someone say something online that really resonated with me: that with a flick of her wrist Pelosi may well have—in the view of history—overshadowed Trump's whole speech. There's a sense in which there's huge power and courage in that—how an act of resistance resonates.

    When I see the relative ease of people who had the money or opportunity to study creative writing or attend workshops, it can be sooo isolating and easy to feel like it’s too late and you did it wrong, but I think the biggest disadvantage is not having that experience of sharing

    It’s not even the validation—though it is nice—but particularly if you’re not accustomed to sharing your writing and the only person who’s ever seen it is you, it is actually wild and gratifying to see what other people bring to your work

    I saw a tweet a while ago that said "a lot of the things we think require a lot of courage actually just require a lot of money" and truer words have never been spoken—Pursuing an art degree? Money. Changing careers? Money. Attending/navigating industry events? Money.
