When I think about it, I realize everyone is a slave to some contingency or another, and I don't really care about the lesser forms of slavery that exist in this world anymore. This applies to both libertarian anti-tax reasoning and leftist anti-work reasoning.
All it means when someone calls something "slavery" that isn't literal slavery is that they don't consider the underlying power dynamics to be valid. So what? Short of divine right what possible justification could there be for any power dynamics?

And if we reject even divine right, which we might as well if we're being consistent, then the equal invalidity of all power dynamics combined with their necessity basically just makes a hell of this world. If this whole world is a hell then what's the point of sympathy?
